Need help finding vacuum leak!

I recently had an AOS fail on my 2005 boxster base w/ tiptronic about 800 miles ago and oil went all over the place. Now, I'm getting what sounds like a vacuum leak and I'm having the hardest time trying to locate it. It sounds like a loud, high-pitched "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" and is constant from when the engine starts till shut-off.

I suspect that it may have something to do with the transmission, as there is a very short break in the sound when the car shifts up or down and when the throttle is initially applied from idle.

Here is a youtube video which seems identical to my sound:

It's running perfectly smooth otherwise. Smooth idle and acceleration with no CEL.

Bently manual was no help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Porsche Crest Answered my own question

found the leak. not surprisingly, it was right on top of the transmission.

I used a rubber hose and a funnel to the ear to isolate the leak.

Now I just need to find a part number.

Best PN would be a section of hose and eliminate the 100 dollar plus subject to break and coolant loss cheap plastic part. Yust my take. I would never replace it again. Did it once.

Very good idea! This part has been used atleast since 1978 on the 928 and 944 as a heater control valve for coolant and is being used for ATF in our cars. Part #: 928-574-573-03

In researching, some guys over in the rennlist forum posted a metal alternative. Heres a pic and link for anyone interested but I like your solution better.

Check your heater control valve or watch what can happen - Rennlist Discussion Forums

Could I cause any harm to my tiptronic tranny by removing that valve as you suggest?
