Hood cable

On my 911 and turbo my emergency cable is hidden n the right side wheel housing. Where is it in my 99 Boxster? Did not pull off the left side yet.

Worst Case Scenario

It should be in the right-side wheel well.

The cable was on the right side as I have located these cable on many vehicles however it was not accessible by hand at all on my Boxster. I had to lie under the front of the vehicle and visually locate the cable and pull it down with a wire hook. (coat hanger)

Mine was tucked in beside my right side head lamp on my 99, Not sure what the heck they were thinking - I routed it down an zip tied it to the lower part of the front faring

I agree with you. What were they thinking. I was locked out due to a wet alarm module. My battery was dead and I could not remove the head lamp assembly to get to the cable. And I could not release the hood through the circuit.

and the rear trunk

And there's a cable for the rear that goes towards the driver side of the car

My 1997 Boxster DOESN'T have the emergency release cable I was able to get my front trunk lid open by pulling on the main release cable in the driver's wheel well.
