I want to ask a question before I buy the regulator. I have a 2004 Boxster S. The passenger window will not drop as required when the door is opened. Looking at it, it sounds like the motor is trying to drop the window, but no dice. When the door is opened, you can press the top of the window down and it goes to the right position. Once the door is closed, the window raises appropriately. Otherwise, the window works fine opening or closing.
In my mind, I thought maybe the window itself was not seated well in the regulator what do I know; that is what it acts like. I opened the door up and that was not the answer, but what I did see was that the cable in the regulator toward the front of the door was much looser than the one in the rear. Playing with it, I was able to temporarily reduce the slack and that seemed to resolve the problem. Unfortunately, there was no apparent way to permanently enact this change. My guess now is that the regulator has to be replaced. Is that the case, or is there a method to adjust that I am just not aware of? Thanks for your help. __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: Porsche Boxster Window Regulator Replacement / Window Switch Replacement / Window Motor Replacement - 986 / 987 (1997-08) - Pelican Parts Technical Article |

Sounds like the regulator to me. If it drops when pushed on, usually it is faulty regulator.
