New tire time

Greetings all
My 98 now has 27K on it and I'm ready for new tires. I was wondering what is the best brand name to use. I must say the factory tires (continental ) are not bad. I would think however that for $795 a set I mignt find something a little better. Thanks for all the help & yes I learned to wink back

Michelin Pilot Sport Rib are the oem tires on our '03 Boxster. Tirerack lists them. You should look at these and also the Bridgestone SO3's. Don't know much about the Michelins, the Bridgestone seem to be a good choice for street, track,ax use.

I'm very fond of Yokohamas myself. The AVS ES100s are the best bargain in performance tires right now, and the AVS Sport is second to none in sheer grip. Even the ES100 will kill your Contis in dry grip, and be every bit their rival in wet. And they're pretty quiet to boot.

Thanks all for the data but I got a friend that sold me a new set of ZR rated Pirelli mounted ect. for 500 bucks :-) I know they are a little light on the wear factor but I couldn't pass up the price. They are alot quieter than the Cont.

See you found some Pirellis. Sounds like a good deal.

I put a set of Bridgestone SO-3's on my car and they are great! If you want to go cheap look at Sumitomo and Kuhmo both have tires that compete with those Contis you have now.

Also Goodyear is marketing their F1 GS-D3's in the US now. I just picked up a set of 16" tires for under $100 bucks a tire from Tire Rack to install on my Toyota. Dont think they have sizes that fit the Boxster yet, but worth checking. This is a relatively unknow tire here in US but was getting rave reviews in Europe. Goodyear is offering $60 buck refund on set of four.
