Mechanic to do an LN IMS in Denver
Anyone know a garage/individual that's done these with good results?
02 S w/ 115k miles. PO did the clutch/flywheel but did not do the RMS and IMS while they had it there. Probably don't need to do the clutch. Water pump a good idea? Don't know if/when it was done. |

Grab a PCA member and ask to see their publication. Or just go here and grab their Feb issue. Should be ads there for shops. And then start asking about their reputation.
Guys who are really really good getting into the guts of the M96 are few. Worth going out of your way to have someone do this who is doing lots of them and who have an agreement with LN to do the inspection before the IMS swap. |

The only ad that says they do it (in the N. Colorado mag) is Pedro's Garage in Florida... long drive. (Pedro has a monthly column in our mag.) Just trying to find someone that's had one done in the Denver area and had a good experience. Do not want my car to be the first they've done. Has to be someone, there are Boxsters everywhere. |

Unfortunately, there are a lot shops out there that would like to think they are ready to do an IMS, but to date have not. Before you choose a shop, ask them for retrofit installation reference contacts, particularly if they are not on LN's list. You really do not want to take your car to a shop whose first IMS retrofit is going to be on your car. There are also a fair number of shops that have done retrofits, but do not adhere to Jake's pre retrofit inspection routine, or even do retrofits on engine's that already are full of metal debris. You need to know if they are both ready to do the job, as well as do it correctly.

plus if you search a bit there are several people who have had engine work & IMS work done from the Denver area. From memory, there is even an infamous one where the bearing failed ??? cant remember

Which is exactly why you need to ask for reference installation contacts.

Chris Cervelli. He's racing a fleet of Boxsters these days. Knows the car inside out. Going as Cervelli Technical Service these days. PM me if Google doesn't quickly get you a phone number.

Might be worth a call to CarQuip in Boulder, and talk to Chris. He usually has good advice, even if he isn't the one to do the work.
Also, I've spoken with Eisenbud's in Denver, as they did the PO work on my 944. They were good folk, and would give good advice. |

I know Eisenbud, but I'm really looking for someone that's done a number of these bearing... don't want mine to be the first.
Still upset that the PO put a new clutch in the car last year but didn't touch the IMS while it was apart. |

At a meeting of the local PCA you may find people eager to share their experiences.
