How to

Does any one rent the "needed" tools ? I certainly understand that a deposit of replacement cost would be acceptable and not sure though how much for renting ? This is a one time repair for me, while waiting on shop repair manual, that ended up being a service repair manual, arghhhhhhhh I did start the dissemble and certainly wish I would have waited till had the "HOW TO" in front of me, now having undertaken more than I wished had. At any rate can any one direct me toward renting the necessary assembly tools..........Ken:-)

When you get involved with Porsches, you will find that they use a vast number of specialized single use tools, all of which are (1) Expensive, (2) Hard to find, and (3) Nearly impossible to rent or borrow. Good luck.

Porsche never wanted anyone inside their engines so they never published repair manuals or taught classes in engine internals. The idea was that a failed engine went back to the factory. Even the dealer guys didn't know. So people had to learn by trial and error. There are classes taught by Flat6 but that is probably more investment in time and $ than you want to make for a one of a kind repair. More sense for the guy who works on the cars for a living.

To give you an idea, I work on these cars for a living, and this is where my tools live:

People like to say you can't be too rich or too thin; if you work on Porsches, you can't have too many tools...............
