What's this hole on my Cayman

So I notice a hole in the drivers wheel well (there isn't one on the passenger side) and thought the shop had forgot to replace a plug when it did my suspension cutover. I asked the parts guy for a plug and he said there isn't one for that, and he checked a Cayman there and it had the same hole (with no cover). I don't recall ever seeing it before when I had my wheels off and thought why would Porsche allow water and crap into the body work?

I am going to try to source a plug for it but I just thought I would ask here first.

I was wondering the same thing about my Boxster because I have my carpet out and I noticed it from the inside. It might be a different hole but it's in the same general location. Can't be good for keeping water out though.

Talking Plugging the hole

I think I'd leave that hole open. I just revived a 2006 boxster that was "flooded" by a ham fisted owner or mechanic who had destroyed the drip pans and left them out. After I got the carpets dried out and was getting ready to install, I noticed a tiny bit of water in the floor on the driver's side. It was dripping from a rubber plugged hole in the chassis. There's a cavity in there that can fill up and retain a few litres of water. I went underneath and sure enough there were other plugs under there. I removed one of them and released the captured water. I then replaced both the pass compartment plug and the undersided plug. If there wasn't a plug, I think I'd leave it as the factory left it.
I think my 2006 cars have an ABS wire coming out of that hole.

Best of luck.
