Issue with Key Cylinder on 986

So I parked the car last night and as I cut the car off, the key had absolutely no tension on it and the radio continued to play. Pulled the key out and the radio continued to play. This morning I pulled the key cylinder out and there was a piece broken that sits between the key cylinder and the steering lock assembly. Is this supposed to be a part of the key cylinder or the lock assembly or a separate part. I have searched and haven't seen the same issue. Attached are a couple of photos. Thanks in advance for your help.

I can't help you. You might try posting on 986forum.com, as well.
