Favoured Calgary Service Point
Recommendations for service in the Calgary area? Who's on top of their game out there?
Thanks Ken |

I thought Stealthn would chime in, but he must be tuning up his twin turbos (changing diapers)
The best I know of in Calgary is Riegel Tuning 1998 5330 - 1A Street SW, Ph 255-6787. Just off McLeod Trail South, East on 53rd, use the alley and you'll receive a happy surprise to see all the Porsches they'll be working on. The PO passed away and there are new owners since 98, but I understand they're doing just as good of a job. My friend takes his 930 there and I believe Stealthn does too? No affiliation, they use to service my previous Pcar when I lived in Cowtown. There's a number of Calgary posters who may chime in, but hope this helps you out? Rob

Ken,
I have only had the P car for a short while, but had Riegel do some work on it and it was a positive experience. Other than the dealer there is not much to choose from, and various people suggested Riegel, so I will too. Rick

Defintely call or drop by or see Marc at Alpine Autowerks ...He has forgotton more than most know about Porsches...Very approachable and reasonable...
He gave me advice whenever I asked for it when I was rebuilding my 951 engine...If I ever have to break down and pay someone for repairing my car it will be him.

Yes these twin turbo's can really spool up
![]() I'm using Hima at Riegel now, he is very good, but sometimes I think his prices are a little high. But, if you compare that with South Center Fine cars (Dealer) they are cheap. Get to him soon if you need something as they tend to get very busy this time of year. I need a new clutch and a bunch of oil leaks fixed. My quoted price with 3-4K (OUCH) the parts for clutch alone were $1500 which I could get a full power clutch kit with cable and everything at Pelican with exchange, GST and duty for about $1200 so I am in a bit of a quandry. I spoke to Hima about bringing in third party parts (I don't like to do this but it's $300!) and he said they would install them, just no warranty. I'm still trying to figure out what to do...... Good luck.

Hello all...I've used Reigel and found them to be good but pricey. I'll second the motion for Marc at Alpine Auto. Small shop but great atmosphere, and he really knows what he's doing. He did my Carrera tensioners on a Sat. and it was a great learning experience because he fully expected me to help!!! Exactly what I was looking for....
As far as the dealership goes...they are "replacement only"artists. |

I have to say that Marc at Alpine Auto is definitely the place to go for Calgary service. He's hands on, educates you and really is working with you in getting the car serviced, tuned or whatever you need.
Which is exactly what I want when it comes to my P car. |

Actually, I had intended to go to Riegel, but ended up at Alpine because of a sudden, pressing need. I have to echo the comments here about Marc - great service provided!

I went to meet Mark and got a quote on the clutch (labour only), the oil leaks, turbo valve covers, some gaskets, oil line, valve job etc. Around $2k.
I asked Marc about bringing my own parts, and them doing the labour; he said as long as it doesn't happen too often. Now I just need to raise some cash, or do some of the work myself. The downside is the length of time it takes me vs. a shop, as well as doing something for the first time myself (valve job), then if something really goes wrong...blah, blah, blah. One thing to note is prices in Canada for parts are stupid compaired to the US, stupid.

Is this through Marc or PelicanParts? Do you think Marc (or other shops) is getting a cut on all parts on top of the labour charges? I thought they were almost the same as in the US. + S&h. Too bad Marc will do that only if it's not too often, I mean who likes to pay more. Since there's just like 2 shops in Calgary doing Porsche stuff we can't just shop around for better prices -J

Oracle,
No just in general through all shops. It's still cheaper (alot cheaper in some cases) to import from US, pay exchange, duty, GST, shipping, etc. than it is to get it locally (if you can) Let's not even talk about the dealers....

Hello all...yes,Marc will do that occasionally. I supplied parts for my turbo tie rod installation. He supplied parts for my Carrera chain tensioner upgrade.I don't think I could have found the parts any cheaper
for the tensioners, plus there is some kind of warranty if anything goes wrong. If you do supply parts, make sure you get EVERYTHING you will need,or you could be screwed half way through... BTW..I checked the price of Carrera tensioner parts at the dealership, 725.00 Canadian per side!!! |

Has anyone tried Eurostar (4512-6 St NE) or 2 Square (204-40th Ave NE)? Someone at PCA mentioned them a long time ago but I've never tried them.

Ditto on Two Square. Go to Marc, he will fix it right and at a fair price.
