Lapping day at Race City
Hey, I was just informed about this event, and since I would like to see at least one other porsche out there, I thought I would post here.
I have been told that Track Techniques is putting on a lapping day on the 24th from 9 to 4. The cost will be $200, for more information, email TrackTechniques@telus.net If memory serves me, their phone number is 226-9387, but I hope I'm not wrong. I usually try to make it out to these events, and unless it gets very crowded, it's just open lapping on the full road course. It's an absolute blast. For anybody wondering how fast you get going, I regularily break 220kph on the front straight. I don't as of yet know how inspections are working for the event, as I'm still trying to register. The $200 price tag seems steep, but think about it, most auto-x events are at least $20, and you only get maybe 10-15 minutes on the track. At these lapping days, if you want it, you can get pretty much the whole time on the track (in this case, 7 hours!). I usually spend enough time on the track to have to leave to go get more gas.

I made a small omission from that post that I just realized. In order to come out, you must have some previous lapping/racing experience, they have told me that Solo II doesn't count. Tech is up to you, check out your own car. I'll most likely be there, it would be nice to see some others out there.

Zero10,
There is usually a handful of 911's there. Last time Jay had a lapping evening there was probably 6 there. You will need a helmet and as you mentioned, and Jay will consider whether your previous racing experience qualifies you to run his events, or you can take his school next spring. Here is a plug for Solo I next year, not only will you get a school and timed track time with us, you will also get to run Jays events as well. Rick Pollock Solo I Calgary Sports Car Club

I've already got a racing school behind me. Last lapping day I went to had one 911, and the rest were domestics and japanese imports. I felt like I was doing a poor job representing the german import crowd, so I thought I would try to stirr up some enthusiasm here. Will you be out at this one Rick?

I was out for an evening event and there was myself, and a 964 RS America, 993, 2 996 Twin Turbos, and a GT3. I doubt I will swing this event, the motorsports budget has been completely decimated this year!
