Calgary's last AutoX
Well it's over....
The last autocross of the season was held this week, and I sure had fun (between the long waits). Once again too many cars for me, but still a blast. We went the opposite way this time so I was unable to beat my previous time (which I was hoping to do). It must have been 930 night because there were some beautiful examples out! I spun my car for the first time in 3 years, and I knew it was going to happen before it did....I came into turn 3 (going the opposite way) too hot, I missed the braking, I missed the downshift, I missed the turn-in, apex, run out, hell I missed the boat! she didn't even squeal before braking loose, I puncher her, but it was too late....went all in and didn't leave the track. Good experience to know where the break away, and point of no return is, but even better I knew it was going to happen before it did. Even kept the same shorts on ![]() My last run I thought I am not going to push it but try to be smooth, and I had my best run....probably still slower than a Yugo, but who cares. Anyway it was a great year, I didn't take too many pictures this time but here are some I did take including Hima's racer.

Bob,
Great pictures! I forgot my camera, darn! ... anyway this was my first AutoX experience and I'm hooked for life!! So much adrenaline running, I love it!! Besides I finally found the limits of the car, in fact turn 3 in my second run I went in too hot and.. I met the grass.. Funny thing is that I didn't spin, I went out straight.. I know I was close to a white wall (yes there is one behind the tall grass). I'm sorry for the guy in the 914 behind me because I ruined his lap, sorry! But all in all was an incredible experience. My third run was a lot funnier because I was as fast as the second run but I corrected beautifully... one hell of a lap ![]() If you have never done it, please do yourself a favour and try it... Safe and fun! -Jasper

You guys should come out to secret street, hopefully they will run tonight, and with any luck, next week as well, then they're finished for the year. The course isn't as nice as the auto-x held on the road course, but it's still a blast, and you usually get a lot more runs in.
I've gone off the track at turn 3 as well, seems like a common point on the road course

Haha, sorry, it's only the name that's even remotely secret.
It's a public event held at race city every friday night. They ran last night, and it was a blast. $40 to go down there and auto-x. Lots of into on the race city web site. I got over 25 runs in, and I spent an hour standing there watching, since I was running low on spare oil (my car goes through a lot, and the 2 jugs I brought were almost empty). There are a lot of first-timer's there, it's a pretty quick course, and it's a pretty safe course as well. I wind it up to 120-130kph on the course, and it takes between 60 and 75 seconds depending on your level of skill to run the course. Next week will be the last one for the year. It's kind of neat, since it's pretty much all after-dark. For the $40 to auto-x, you get free runs on the drag strip as well. I've taken a pass or two, but I try to stay away, since until 11:00 or so the line-ups are huge.

I hope I'm not the only Porsche... Every year I find more and more things.. I wish there was a brochure or panflet with all things happening in the city! ![]() Thanks -Jasper

Well, I've just beheaded my engine, so my 951 won't be there
![]() Found some serious issues, but I think I found the cause of my oil burning. I'll try to get it back together for friday night, but I'm not counting on it. I have to drop the crossmember, crossover pipe, oil pan, and pull a piston out, then reassemble, which of course takes 2x as long as the disassembly. I'm in about 6 hours so far.
