Irregular idling

My '85 325e BMW recently started idling irregular at all traffic stops. The idle would drop to about 700 rpm and then rev to about 1500 rpm continuously. This started shortly after the inspection light came on in my instrumentation. My BMW has 270,000KM's .

Alex,
That sounds like the MAF is dirty and needs to be cleaned. You will not believe how much gunk will come out of it.

Probably the O2 sensor is due for replacement.

Search the BMW forum for the article/instructions on how to do this.

And most important run a bottle of Techron to clean those injectors.

With a little bit of maintenance you will have car for another 270K!!

Good luck
-Jasper
