Opinions
Hi guys I haven't posted here in long time. I also have not driven my Porsche in 2 years
![]() The reason is my wife and I had a set of twins just over a year ago, (we also have a 4 year old) That brings me to my "problem" Obviously the Porsche has only 2+2 seats. And my family has 5 butts. One part of my brain is thinking of selling, the other part is saying "keep it!" I have owned it for 9 years and it is payed for, I used it as my wedding car, so it has good memories. My car is a 77 Targa, that needs a little bit of work, I would like to paint it, fix a few slow leaks etc etc. But can't justify the $ with 3 small kids right now. I also know it is not good for a car to just sit in storage and not be used. I avtually feel bad for the car (that sounds real dumb) I know opinions are like as*******, but what do you guys think, we obviously share a passion. If I do decide to sell, do you think it would be better to fix it up a bit (new targa latch needed, tach not working) then sell or sell it at lower price taking the faults into consideration? Again just looking for your thoughts, Shawn

Hi Shawn
I'd day thaf if you really love the car keep it. Once it is gone, she's gone. It is paid for after all. If you decide to sell I'd just let it go as it is. Even if you fix the faults you describe there will be others someone will surely point out. I've been thinking the same as you only our first is not even three weeks old. Kids change everything! Reg

Yikes! Our first is due in mid-July - is this what I have to look forward to?
![]() Just kidding. I'm hoping the car will become a common hobby between myself and kids. Whenever I think of selling the car (to move up to more power, or just because I'm frustrated with her) I think about all those times I've heard someone talk about that car they should have kept... Nobody ever regrets keeping a special car, only selling one.

If you can afford to keep the car and you still have a passion for 911's, you should definitely keep it.
I have 3 boys under the age of 9, which makes it difficult to find the time to drive the 911. Time with the family comes first.....but if I didn't have the car in the garage to take for a drive or turn a wrench on, it would drive me crazy. Fix some of the little problems and take it for a drive, it will change your mind about selling it! Adam

History usually tells us if we sell a toy before replacing it, we won't replace it.
911s are made for kids, big and little. I have a bond with mine kids regarding the Porsche. It's a highlight to my day when my 9 year old daughter asks if we can take the "Porsche car" today.

Rob,
Long time.... Don't sell, you'll regret it, and I understang what you're going through, I have 3 year old twin boys. I will never let my car go unless it's for a different model. It's about time management; when there napping hit the garage, when they go to bed hit the garage. I have a truck for transporting everyone and winters, but my 911 is a daily driver the rest of the year. You know how fast you can get diapers when you run out if your in the 911 ![]() And yes even 3 year olds can say Daddies Porsche... Good luck with your choice....

Guys Thanks for the replies, it is funny when I told my 4 year old daughter that I might sell it she was totally against it, I think I have brainwashed her.
The other part of the problem is that I live in Medicine Hat without a garage, therefore my Porsche has been in Lethbridge (1 1/2 hour drive away) in a garage at a rental property. So I can't even go "tinker". But I think your responses are just telling me what I already hope I believe. No decision yet but at least the wheels are turning in the right direction Shawn

I say sell it and put the money in Calgary Realestate. In 2 years you will have a 911TT in your driveway. But with that said, I am still hanging on to mine and finding other ways to own realestate in calgary.
