Sad day
The 89 cab that i purchased in California is likely headed for the graveyard. Someone turned left in front of me and I t-boned him. He was charged but that doesnt change the fact that my beautiful car is now sitting at the body shop. First impressions (pre inspection by the insurance comp) is that the frame is bent (both doors out of alignment) and that it may be a write-off.
Had it appraised so will presumably get that value for it. Will they repaying for shipping costs etc? |

Oh man, that's awful. Didn't you just get it? The black with natural leather interior? (my favourite combo) Truly a loss to the P-car world!
If your appraisal was sent to your ins. co. it should be part of your policy and they'll most likely pay you that less your deductible, if it's a write off. If the ins. co. doesn't know about the appraisal, they should pay replacement value, which for a car like that around here is kind of useless, because they search the market for replacements, and you won't find many! Good luck. Insurance companies can be a nightmare.

Was it an agreed value insurance policy? Is that what the appraisal was for? If so, you are OK, you'll get the appraised value.

That is sad news. Sorry to hear about it... you must be totally bummed out. Look on the bright side.. you now have the chance to make lemonade from your lemons with the cash you'll get from the insurance company.
As we all know, buying a new one is great fun!

it was an agreed upon value that i just had appraised. Still waiting to see if it is a write-off or not.
My brother also wants to know if I can buy back the salvage if it goes that way. Engine was just rebuilt, new rims and tires etc etc. We will see but what if the frame is bent and they want to try and fix it? Can I decline? Thanks for the condolences |

I've had my car on an agreed value policy for years. My understanding is that if it is a writeoff, you get a cheque, no dealing with an adjustor. You should be able to buy back the salvage as well. I doubt they will pay back shipping costs, just the agreed value of the car. Major structural damage with multiple panels bent is likely a writeoff.
