WTB: coil
Does anyone anywhere within 50km of the north shore of Lake Ontario by any chance have a spare coil they'd like to get rid of, that will work in my 72 911? (2.4T) Just found out I have to drive to Kingston tonight and in chasing some electrical demons I believe I need to replace the coil.
I've been putting it off lately, because I haven't had 10 minutes to spend with the car, but I'd like to have a backup in case mine gives up the ghost somewhere in the middle of nowhere. I'd need to pick up at your location tonight after dinner. Plan on leaving here around 7ish. I realize it's a bit of a strange request, but hey, you never know. Thanks! Chris,
I'm running an MSD coil in my 930. I have the original but I don't believe it is a match for a 2.4 though. There may be an MSD that does match though. You can buy them at Northern Performance in Hamilton or Performace Improvements. Kirk

Hey, cool. I didn't think they'd be available in any local shops. Will Performance Improvements recognize a part # I get from here at Pelican? Northern Performance is across town from here, but PI is just a few blocks away.

Chris,
I ordered my coil using the MSD part # (available on their website). Now, the questions is which coil is the proper one for your car?? This is the one I'm running: http://www.msdignition.com/coil_blaster_3_8222.htm You have to make sure the electrical specs are the same between the Bosch and the MSD

I just checked the part #s and the coils are the same from '69-'83 911s & 76-89 930s!!
You should be good to go!

Hey Kirk, thanks a lot! Doesn't look like I'll get time to pick it up before I leave, but hopefully I make it back in one piece. I'll pick one up over the weekend, if they have them in stock.
