Any winterizing tips? I will be storing my car in an unheated, detached Garage.

My car is currently store in an unheated, insulated garage.
I've got the car full of gas, with some Sta-bil fuel stabilizer in the tank. I have the car on some boards to keep it off the ground. I have the tires pumped up a little to prevent flat spotting. I have the doors closed on the first click and the windows opened a a tiny crack. I have the car hooked up to a trickle charger to keep the battery juiced. Car is in gear with the handbrake disengaged and a wooden 2x4 is tucked behind the tires to hold the weight. Car is washed and a fresh oil change was done before the car went into hibernation.

Pretty much what I have done, though this year I put mothballs under the car and under the hood. Some recommend this to keep mice, etc. away from wiring, etc.

Take it completely apart, store all the pieces in your basement, put it back together in the spring

I don't do much. Stabil in a full tank is about it. Disconnect battery. Set the trap line with peanut butter. Order another boatload of mods while the blue bomb sleeps.

There is a VERY detailed post on the technical forum about this. I believe you are also supposed to change the oil BEFORE leaving her for the winter (which really is counterintuitive).

Winter Storage in unheated garage
Here is what I do: Fill tank (Add Stabil) Change oil Wash car top and bottom (Including the wheel wells) Dry car thoroughly, drive a few miles to dry out brakes and bottom Spread poly sheet on bare concrete, park on poly Trickle charger on the battery, or remove battery Extra pressure in tires, roll the car a little every week to avoid flat spots and prevent the brake pads to make a rust spot on the rotors Put a little Vaseline on the Fuchs wheels Polish chrome on sunroof assembly Treat the leather seats Close heater valves (Rodents!) Do not use a tarp or poly over the car, it traps moisture! Put 3-4 old comforters over the car with a 150W light bulb inside secure on a little stand and a 60W light bulb resting in a metal hub cap inside the trunk close to the fuse panel (Fuse box lid removed) The two bulbs keep things dry at about 50 deg Fahrenheit (10 deg Celsius) I do not start the engine during winter but crank it every two weeks with the coil, and fuel pump, disconnected to circulate the oil An old radio plays 911 music for comfort while the snow flies Posted by Gunter Winter Storage Checklist Ian

My car has been sitting for a few weeks, all of which have been great weather wise. Urge to move the car but didn't. Just went to stare at the car. I'll be detailing the inside today.

Man you guys in Cowtown suck with your great fall weather.
we only had a few days in September that did not seem to rain. My last day of insurance was September 28th. Took my son for a boot out to a Halloween party in Pemberton. Rained all the way home. HARD! Oh well, I guess we can all look forward to our garage visits all winter. Good luck with storage.

I revised the cranking procedure without ignition on my list:
Disconnect the Bosch CDI module (Not just the coil) and fuel pump relay for cranking. Year after year I am surprised how well the lights and comforters work to keep a reasonable temp inside the car. The 150W light is on a secure stand on the pass side pointing towards the console.
