Wow, it looks great!
Is that going to be wheel to wheel racing or one up?
I just did my first DE yesterday night and I had a blast!
It sure let me know that the car isn't the weak point in my car/driver relationship...
Have a great time.

What other types of cars are you up against in wheel to wheel?

Thanks Tim...

In Vintage, we are generally grouped into 2 classes; one for Small Bore - 2 liters and under and Big Bore - Over 2 liters....

I will be classed against MG's, TR6s, BMW 2002s, Alfas in the Small Bore category as I'm running a 2.0 Liter "S" motor

In the big bore classes we have cars like Camaros, Mustangs, Challengers, an original GT40, Porsches, Tigers, Cobras etc...

There will also be cars representing and the different GT classes also....

Come on out and have a look, it's alot of fun !!!....Lots of Fast Cars....

Peter, your car is looking absolutely fantastic. I saw her at WOW in Feb (and she looked great then). You've been obviously busy with a few details and additions since.

I've been vintage race curious for a long time, but never been out to actually see the cars run. Is it open to the public to come watch (and cheer on the the cars with the engines in the back)? When is likely the best time?

Good luck in your debut!

Thanks Ian....I remember meeting you and your Beautiful Ghia...

Yes, the public is welcome to come out, I just don't know how much it is to get in...maybe $20.00

We have qualifying on Saturday morning and then the races start at 11:00

On Sunday, there is morning practice with racing starting at 10:00

Drop by and say Hi if you come down...

Very nice car. It looks so clean.

I'd love to try an older model like that. Hope you kick ass this weekend.

Missed it again. Between the in-laws visiting, and my daughter's birthday, just couldn't find the opportunity to sneak out.

Hope it was fun, and no resultant battle scars. If you have any pictures from the pits or races you'd be willing to share, I'd love to see 'em...

Quick note, it was fantastic to see Peter out with his authentic vintage racer. The car is very well prepared and it shows.

We have a small gaggle of Porsches at these events now. Next one is July 5-6 at Race City. Don't miss it!

Great pictures!
How many laps to a race?
I couldn't believe how much effort is required "just" to string a few corners together.
I have a lot more respect for guys who do drive either for a living or at a highly competitive level.
Sounds like you did well!

Bill,

Ours races are 15 mins + 1 lap which usually results in 8 - 9 laps...

Between practice, qualifying and the actual races, we had 10 15min sessions over the weekend....I was totally wiped out by the end of the weekend....It takes an extreme amount of concentration and energy as not only are you concentrating on your lines, but you also have to be aware of where people are postioned on the track around you as there are people trying to pass on either side of you..

As much work as it is, it's also alot of fun...

Excellent, I did my first Solo 1 on Monday and it was a hoot. Had to use my wifes 944 as my car is still in pieces, and waiting for pieces so I am pretty sure I was the slowest person there as I was still in fourth gear and not getting to 180km by the end of the front straight. The corners were better, but there was no danger of me catching anyone in front of me.

That's Great Robert. Glad to hear you enjoyed your first Solo 1. Be patient, the speed will come with seat time...

I started out in Solo 2, then did Solo 1 and now Road Racing...Solo 1 is a great way to get comfortable at high speeds before having to worry about people passing you...

A few of us here started off with Solo 1 before graduating to Road Racing...

Good Luck with your build and have fun in Solo 1
