Porsche owners meet in Penticton,B.C. Sunday.

well, after the May long meeting flopped, I thought to give it one more try. a very informal 'porsche owners' get together in penticton at the cherry lane mall starbucks, sunday sept 14 at 1 pm. I've put the word out to everyone I know in the area and they're doing the same. I've even resorted to chasing cars down on the street and leaving notes on windshields of parked cars.

I'll post pics afterward and see what kind of turnout we get.

MORAL QUESTION: do I invite the owners of a couple of cars that I'm interested in, and hence expose said cars to potential buyers? or keep my mouth shut and just keep whittling away at the owners to sell me their cars.

Hmmm. I think the biggest risk in inviting these owners is that they'll be reminded of how much fun it can be getting the car out, and hanging with the rest of the crew. They might get reinvigorated and never sell their cars. To anyone. Ever.

Calgary's a bit far to make the jaunt. But I hope you get a good weather, and a great turnout.

well, I would consider our outing a moderate success. 10 cars out, which, in our small town isn't bad.
'66 911 coupe
'72 911 targa
'77 911 targa
'78 911SC targa
'80 911SC coupe
'91 944S2 cabriolet
'97 911 cabriolet
'97 993 C2
'00 Boxster
'01 911 turbo

we met for coffee then went for a 100 mile drive to a late lunch then home. fun and fast. although the 993C2 and the turbo complained at not getting out of fourth. FWIW I hit 130 mph myself, where does fifth come in on those cars anyway?
just about lost our camera into the windshield of the following turbo when my wife stuck it up thru the sunroof to take a pic, at 100mph. fairly humbling when my '80 ROW SC is the slowest car in the bunch.
great fun and a super bunch of people. doing it again on the 28th before the weather turns on us.

I hope I'll be able to join in one day.. I'm in the early days of a back date imposterization... we will be packing up and leaving Calgary to Penticton for the new year... trying to organize boxes of garage stuff for the move. I just hope I'll find it all once we are settled in. Anyone one wanna buy a freshly reno-ed house in Calgary I'm working on the wife to consider a 993 or Cayanne as a part trade, just have the house the way we want it and so it's time to move... again.

before I answer your question, are you associated with, or are you a member of, any law enforcement agency?

it's called Green Mountain Road. runs from Penticton and connects to highway 3A. access to Apex ski area from Vancouver if coming via Manning Park. very nice twisty drive with the odd " holy cr*p " surprise corner. the pic is one of the straighter bits.

This is my priority on the next trip to the Okanagan! According to Google Earth, it looks like the distance on this road from 3A to Pentiction is about the same as sticking to the highway. Extra fun on a road trip with no time penalty!
Thanks!

well, probably our last run of the year. we drove thru the twin lakes area. stopped at a fossil bed to hunt fossils, and a winery. a late lunch in OK Falls. beautiful scenery but the road was bumpy in spots. we keep losing Rudi in his targa! we'll do some planning over the winter to make these runs a little more organized without killing the fun. D.

ps - please excuse gratuitous own-car pic.

This the one you put the seats I sold you in? Looks like they would look right at home.

you know, when I first got the car, I couldn't wait to change the color. now, well, it kind of grows on you. kind of an understated, dignified color.

yeah Robert. that's where they went. I meant to send you some pics. they do look quite 'right' if one didn't know better. and supportive without being confining. ( I sound like a bra commercial ). and now the kids can get into the back seats.

You can set how many threads you want to show up and how old they are; the default setting makes it short but you can change the view in your personal settings if you want to see more threads.

Are you coming up this way at all in the next while Don?

next meet details.....................

Cherry Lane Starbuck's at 1:00 Sunday.

The tentative plan is to head south to Osoyoos, hitting a couple of wineries on the way. Then those who wish a liesurely drive home can come back north, doing wineries as needed. Those that would like a chance to open it up a little, can go west to Keremeos then back to Penticton.

looking forward to seeing everyone. Don.

ps to Rob. I'll try to use my influence as de-facto czar of our gang to make a trip soon to the shuswap. waddya got to offer for fun up that way, activity-wise? ( not counting cheese factory tours )
