GTA machine shop?

I'm fixing some oil leaks on the engine and potentially looking at reconditioning the heads. Valves are in good shap and have lots left on them for a regrind if need be.

Anyone know of a good machine shop in the GTA, one that knows and has worked on Porsche engines?

some pics for you visual folks..

He did my engine 2 years ago.
He's very meticulous in the work he does. He will tell you straight up what you need or don't need.

PM Christien. I know he did engine work last winter & he might be able to steer you somewhere.

Are you doing a full rebuild or just the top end?

Thanks for the responses everyone.

Mark, I am doing top end only. The pistons and cylinders are in good shape, and judging by the condition of the cams and rockers, I am confident the bottom end is good to go.

Primary reason for the 'rebuild' is to fix oil leaks, which was coming from seemingly everywhere.

Getting there. Parts are ordered and heads are off for reconditioning. I presume rebuild will start the end of January. Hopefully all parts will be cleaned by then and ready for reassembly.

Cool I just was wondering if you wanted to split on sealants if you were doing a full build.

Mark,

Sealants are certainly not your most expensive piece. Threebond 1194 (formerly 1104) is inexpensive and available at motorcycle shops mainly (I bought mine locally in Etobicoke). Loctite products are available at Brafasco and not to bad in small quantities. Curil-t you have to get from the US as far as I saw, just order it with your parts.

Joe,
Thanks, but I've put together a couple before in the 90's, I've also built the odd VW engine before.
I have a 120HP Type one engine in my '67 VW bus. I'm building a matching '67 bug 1700lbs with a 180hp (estimated) 2.7 liter nickies, SDS FI 914 type 4 for in it. I built the heads, installed new guides and seats, oversize valves, 12mm plugs.... 2nd engine I've built like this first was 150RWHP on a chassis dyno.
I think I can handle it.

Just didn't want to buy a bunch sealants I'll never use again, I have enough half full tubes and bottles.
