Duffy Fix
We need to break in our new ride (oops not Porsche) and get those pesky first 1,600 km out of the way to start having some real fun.
Sunday the very significant other and I will be driving up to Merrit and then back via Duffy Lake. Sadly our top speed can only be 140Km and no red line cornering till we break in our little demon. Anyone like to join us? This Sunday June 20, leaving from Abbotsford 7:00 am, Sumas Way exit 92, Go South to Starbucks .

Deb and I were in a hurry to break in the new ride so we could have some fun next week on our holidays.
In the last five days we drove the PCA June 27th Fraser Valley Tour and on Friday drove down to Mt Vernon to pick up some auto parts. We decided to drive east on # 20 to Winthrop then head up to Canada via Osoyoos and spend the night at our place in Chain Lake outside of Princeton. The new ride should have the compulsory 1,600 km by then. Everything was going as planned, even found some great new roads to avoid the congestion on #20 from Mt Vernon all the way to Republic! At 9:30 PM we were 1 km from our place at the lake. I came around a sweeping bend into a straightaway doing about 70 km. The road dropped off about 6-8 ft. on the right side. Yep! Sure enough, a deer jumps out of the drop off onto the road right in front of the car. I stood on the brakes and tried to steer left around it but still hit it. No avoiding this one. Luckily no one was injured, but one dead deer! Photos of a 4 day 1600 km BROKEN IN WRX STI below. Before and after. ![]() ![]() ![]() Note the fur still stuck in the hood! |

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate incident with the deer. Kinda sucks on a new car. Glad no one was hurt.
Other than your bambi snuffing adventure, how do you like the WRX?

If our 2009 911 S is a beast, the WRX STI is definitely the Brat.
It sticks like glue to the corners and has a very aggressive feel when put into the Sport Sharp mode. Totally impressed with the solid ride and handling plus room for the two Labs and the Poodle. The Brembo brakes probably saved us from having a worse accident than we did. Once it gets back from the body shop, i am looking forward to touring with the big boy P cars. I'll post after that. It sucks but could of been worse.
I am like a magnet for deer; 3 times over the years in different vehicles and various speeds. ![]() As long as nobody gets hurt. (Except the deer and they're not an endangered species) Of course, you cut it up and made a good stew later in the cabin?

Did you take Holly or is it Hollie to ER for precautionary measures .
Poor thing it must of been traumatic . At the very least take her to rehab for counselling . I am sure you can get at least 10 counselling sessions thru ICBC . Note be very careful how you reintroduce her back to the automobile . Dear god please give her plenty of liquids and rest . Btw I am glad you guys are ok too . Did I tell you I have grown fond of your pooch ![]() Cheers Guy Last edited by briefescape; 06-21-2010 at 12:21 PM.. |

That really sucks!
At least it's white and will be possible to match the paint so you will not be able to tell it was fixed. -Phil |

You know......I keep getting these emails about various miracle drugs one can order over the interweb that can straighten out anything. Might be worth a try.

![]() Sorry to hear D&R, breaking in a car shouldn't mean breaking the car.
