WTB - 914 - prefer a six conversion

thinking about a 914 to round out the stable. prefer a converted 6 as I don't think I could live with a four-banger and would rather not do the conversion myself ( lazy ). any leads much appreciated. thanks, Don.

ps. trying to keep it in-country right now.

true, 914's are targas............. BUT.......... they were designed from scratch to be a targa and look like it. they weren't designed as a coupe, then had someone say -

" hey, let's take this beautiful car and cut the roof off. then we can add this ugly hoop, 30 lbs of rear glass, and an accordian top that's noisy and leaks. Cool! "

talked to him today. if I'm going to buy a 4 and convert myself I'd rather find one in B.C. and save inspection hassles.

Cheaper to buy a /6 project or completed car. The conversion is spendy.
Come over and check out 914world.com if you're serious about getting a teener.

Don,

Sorry, no leads on a six for sale. I recently went the 4 to 6 route. So if your going to SunPeaks next week for Escape, and you're looking for additional motivation, or interested in chatting about what's involved with conversions etc, we can do so in person over a beer or something.

Come over and introduce yourself, I'll be in this.

Don....google "Jake Raby" or" Air cooled Technology". Tons of great reading and you may change your mind about the six!!!

Ian...nice car.

If anyone wants to do a "big 4" I have a Raby balanced 78mm crank assembly fan to PP with rods (or an 80mm and rods, your choice), plus heads, a FF oil pump and other parts. Jake will only ship fedex so unless you can P/U stateside you will get bum raped on brokerage and shipping.
I've done a 2.6 big /4 (103X78mm) that pulled 150hp on the chassis dyno, cool at first, but I got use to it pretty quick in a speedster kit which was a lot lighter than a 914. The engine I was going to put in my 914 is now going in my wifes bug.

For a <2.7 /6 I have the flywheel and clutch plus a core 2.7.
If you do a six from scratch I could help you out on some of the conversion bits.

A friend of mine in Kitchener has a conversion he may still be interested in selling. Let me know if you are interested, and I can put you in contact.
