Clutch Questions..

Hi everyone

I've just bought a mini cooper S 2002 90,000K's. When I test drove it, it went fine - but after paying for it and driving a few hundred K's away, I experienced what I assume is the clutch slipping...

With the handbrake on, the car stalls in all gears - so I thought, maybe not the clutch?

Doing 50k's in 3rd, accelerating quickly, sees the tacho fly up, the supercharger wind up, but no immediate speed increase. THEN, it kind of picks up very quickly.

Normal driving is fine, pulling out at junctions etc, no slip - soon as the supercharger kicks in around 2500rpm, the thing winds up and screams at me

Being no mechanic, I have devised that the extra torque the supercharger creates, is what makes the clutch slip?

Am I right?

Finally, the cost for the kit here in Australia is between $1500 and $2600 due to that fact that the dual mass flywheel can't be machined...

So a single mass would be logical, but from reading, it causes poor idle and a noisier overall ride?

Can anyone offer any advice? Does it sound like the clutch - if so, single/dual kit?

Here's hoping

Great site BTW!
