What is the size of the bolt shown in figure 2? I believe it to be a 20mm but I'm not 100 on that. I don't have a 20mm socket the biggest I have is 19 right now and need to know if I need to buy a 20mm to do this.

I don't recall. I would say it won't be a 20mm, as MINI doesn't use that size fastener. It could be a 21mm. Measure the fastener hex before you begin the job.
