Where does this vacuum pipe go and how difficult is it to change?
Hi there
I have a 2007 mini copper S R56 UK car. It has a small leak from the vacuum line that plugs into the valve cover on the left hand side to the rear. It then disappears down under the induction manifold/air box. Where does it ultimately end and how difficult is it to change? I've attached a photo showing the line in question Thanks in advance Adam http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1487268552.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1487268584.jpg |
Hey Adam - I've attached a diy tech article from our site that I think will be very helpful to you in troubleshooting the leak. If you have any additional questions, feel free to post a Comment just below the article and someone will get back to you with more details. Best of luck!

That's great. Thanks for the help!

Hello Adam -
Here is where it attaches to the valve cover. This image is figure 4 in the valve cover tech article Dmitry linked above. This is the one you're referencing, correct? http://cdn4.pelicanparts.com/techart...mall/pic04.jpg That is the vent tube/hose. It's not uncommon to have a leak from there. It connects from the valve cover to the lower intake manifold. It's part of the PCV system (Crankcase-Ventilation). Here is a better image of it and the part: Pelican Parts - 2009 MINI Cooper S Hatchback - Vent Hose. And here is a diagram that shows you how it is routed so that you can better understand its location to the lower intake manifold http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1482517460.png Here is a thread where another individual reported an issue with it and where we discussed the location: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/bmw-mini/940120-vent-tube.html. Let me know if you have any questions. |
Yep that's the one very helpful, thanks.

Do you know if I can get to the intake manifold end by simply removing the air box?
Thanks in advance |
