Info required on this 89 Carrera
I might have found a home for the 964 engine I am currently building.
![]() Does anyone on the forum know the history of this car? No info available other than 186K '89 Carrera. I know where it is now, I just want to know where it's been. ![]()

is it an 89 ? They didn't have fender mounted aerials. (could have been fitted later in it's life though)

looks 87-89.
fender aerial was likely fitted later as with mine, apparently the reception with the window antenna is rather poor.

The chassis number will settle it.
It should have a K in the middle of the series of numbers and letters.

It's been stolen, torched and recovered.
Unfortunately the electrics around fuse box are toasted as well as the obvious damage on the outside. I thought it might sell for $20K-ish, but I think it might be a bit more than $3K to fix (unless you happen to have a donor for parts).

Bill
I guess the stolen recovered bit puts a bit of a question on the drive train as well, but if you intend to sell the motor.... given that info I wouldn't think it would be worth no more than $20ish as it seems to be a pig in a poke. Good thing is its not bent, the rest is fixable. Glenn |

Wonder what that little plastic box part is infront of the dizzy, mine doesn't have that... Looks a little like an alarm siren, funny place for one if it is.

Nope. Still shopping!
I set my limit at $20K, although at $23K it is still a good buy IF it doesn't have any major mecahnical problems. It was probably picked up by some panel beater for a quick turn-around. It also costs me the best part of $2K to get it from Sydney to Perth as well. Car transport companies aren't interested in handling non-runners or anything with existing damage.

Wow - $20k+ for an '89 1/4 burnt out wreck with no history. And to think I was offered $33k for mine (FSH and in PRISTINE nick) almost 8 years ago:

thats a good looking $33K car.....even 8 years ago. Hope you got a lot more than that for it as on todays market it probably would get between $50 - 60K. While certainly not scarce the G50's equipped models are not so common these days, especially 89 models.

$50-$60? I should have hung on to it......are they really changing hands for those numbers though? I think I had it advertised for $49k for 6-9 months without a bite (other than silly offers from old men who's plums are in wifeys handbags). In the end I let it go for $45k to a gent in Sydney. Would be nice to know what happened to it - hopefully it is in good hands. Sorry for hijaking this thread, I found some cool pictures of it: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
