Grant, any cleaners containing lye/caustic soda will eat aluminium and mag, the Supacrap stuff is petroleum solvent based and won't hurt.
I agree with the citrus based cleaners. I used one from Bunnings recently and it was great (can't think of the brand). And they are much better on the environment

Stay clear of the foaming type of degreasers, they seam to be caustic and will damage paint or any thing else, the supercheap one in the red can looks similar to WD40, and does not cause issues, but still protect external paintwork.

finally got it registered!
