On horse tack we used Glycerine soap on a sponge then a leather treatment when dry.

Almost Banned Once

Treated with Obenauf's leather oil. (After gentle cleaning with warm water and a drop of baby soap)
Obenauf's is great but it would soon get expensive when treating larger items. I use Leatherique for my car seats etc.
