Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise
Wow... Firrst time at this happening event. Eight lanes and 10 miles of anything and everything revving engines and squealing tires. New and old Mustangs, Challengers, and Corvettes seemed to be in the majority.
Anyone else here witness this spectacle? Photos to come later...

Back in the early 1980's when it was more unofficial than official it really was a cruise like in the old days of cruising.
Now it's just stop and go traffic with cars in fear of overheating. It's been too crazy over there for at least the last ten years. I like a good crowd, but it's just too much for me. Biggest event of it's type in the world I've heard.

Grand Rapids has an annual cruise similar, but smaller.
I drove my Carrera in it one year...never again. Stop and start every 20 feet, cars behind doing burn-outs. I got out after about 5 miles...was afraid of wearing out my clutch.

Never been to the event but I was in Detroit during the Woodard weekend. My son and I stayed at a hotel in Dearborn: I could see the Ford campus. There were so many Mustangs where we stayed. Ford opened their test track facilities to a limited number of owners. I'm no Mustang guy but I was impressed with the variety. The following day, my son and I went to the abandoned Packard plant to go urban exploring. There were a number of Packard owners attending the cruise and took pictures of their cars in front of the factory. There were several guys driving cars that were my age(over 60) who were retired auto workers, came just to marvel at the size of the plant. My company is also a sponsor. It's a big deal.
Next time, I would like to a participant.

Grew up there. Spent many weekend nights cruising Woodward with friends in HS, doing burnouts and avoiding the cops. Good memories. Went to the Dream Cruise a few years ago. Lots of awesome cars but not the same. And, very crowded, hot, etc. Haven’t been back. Prefer memories from the 70’s.

In laws live in Bloomfield Hills. I love going to Michigan in August, was there last weekend and just missed the Dream Cruise. There are so many cool cars driving around when the weather is nice on regular weekends.
Saw this sweet 356 and Pantera parked in front of a diner. ![]()

I'm out! I envision some yahoo with a mullet plows into the back of you because he wanted to do an epic burnout. Really?

The Cuda must have been an automatic, where they mash down on the brakes and hit the gas to do a burnout. The hot black rubber off the rear tires spackles the car behind him. I felt so sorry for that guy behind him. Not for me, not for me at all.

I saw a lot of cars exceed the speed limit, I saw zero burnouts.
