5:00 AM model run shows does not show much movement from the last run. FYI, the NHC says it has up to a 100 mile variance 3 days out, so this could still possibly move N or S by that much.
 and here is the rain forecast with this same model run. It's the blob in the lower right.

My buddy is sitting on the Beach right now in Avon OBX. He said, that the weather has a different feel today, and that offshore winds are starting to roll in. He is trying to stay through tomorrow if he can to button up everything best he can before he goes.
If... if I can get there over the weekend, looks like my first few days of vacation may be some clean up . Im watching this one closely . He lost a roof in May to winds. Last month , lightning put a 4 foot hole in his roof, and the firefighters tore the place up pretty good trying to put the fire out . He just got it all back together from that disaster, and here we go !!

I have a friend who lives on OBX up in NC who is in construction, he is running around in circles getting ready.
He has been texting me a pic here and there. They are kind of screwed here, house was lifted last week in preparation for being put up on pilings. Timing of this storm has screwed them.  Pretty common sight now. After a few storms you get good at spotting the bags from the road and not wasting time pulling in. Also, if you go late a night, sometimes there is actually fuel in the tanks and the bags were put out to fool you. Rare, but it happens.  This is gold!

BTW - Been thinking of ya'll in NC and SC all day, I know what it is like to stare down the barrel of a Cat4, it sucks there is not getting around that.
It just plain sucks. Please be safe, do not try to ride this one out if you are in a storm surge or close to the eye wall. This is not a storm to be taken lightly. Please be safe.

Small bit of good news. Beaufort County, South Carolina (HHI, Bluffton, Beaufort) mandatory evacuation was called off today. Still a bad, bad storm for the NC/SC border area.

Seems northern movment has slowed a little. Now traveling more westward.
I'm guessing Beaufort county will go back to evacuation status tomorrow morning. Also calling for the storm to stall and travel more south off the coast. |

Has anyone noticed the Euro Model (ECMWF) on windy is showing the storm hanging a hard turn to the south after it approaches Wilmington and then running down the coast and coming ashore near Savannah

Yes, I noticed that. Not sure what model was being used/shown though. Also noticed it seemed to stall on the NC coast before turning SW along the coast.
