Yep, that's the previous generation Road Glide. They just changed the fairings and other bits this year.

I hope it's ok to post this here. Many of her videos are simply beautiful to watch whether you are in a good mood or had a stressful day. I was seriously planning shipping my bike to England to ride around this summer or fall but don't see it happening now. Maybe next late spring. Or Japan next year.

While stationed in Japan, one of the most common accidents on base was the rider/pedestrian failed to look for oncoming traffic to the left while crossing a street.
Since the traffic pattern is opposite of US.
Japan is a great place to visit right now, dollar is very strong vs the yen.
The length of Japanese land mass is as long as the eastcoast of US, weather can be cold up north but still warm in the south.
Winter/fall months are great time to visit Japan and avoid crowds.
Just be aware of the traffic pattern.

^^^ I did that 30 years ago stepping off a curb in England. First and only time. Last summer I went again and rented a 6 speed Golf, first day was a little edgy but rest of the week was fine. You do have to concentrate though.

Just returned home from our annual 7 day Northern California sierras motorcycle trip. I live in Southern California and did alittle over 2800 miles round-trip. We hit all the major passes and elevation ranged from 1000ft up to 9600ft when crossing the Sonora Pass. Temperatures ranged from 57 to 101 all on the same day. Unfortunately most of the pictures are in my head, spent more time riding then taking pictures.

There were 7 of us, 2 KTM GTs, 2 BMW GSAs, 1 BMW RS, 1 Ducati Multistrada Pikes Peak and 1 KTM 790. All great riders and great company. Fun trip. Next month trailering to Oregon to do the Washington State BDR. Can't wait!

Did a 300ish mile loop today to prepare myself for a super busy work week. That picture is Wyoming south of Saratoga looking at Wyo 230.

So I just finished a great ride up in the Sierras on my GS. It's a great bike and I've never ceased to be amazed at how well it can skoot thru corners and just how all around capable it is. If I could only have one bike to do all the types of riding I enjoy and do, this would be it. Fortunately I'm able to have a few. (Not as many as Baz, but jeez who does!)

BUT, There is no getting around the fact that it weighs almost 600 lbs. At the end of several days hustling that thing around and thru corners, I'm beat.

So I'd been thinking lately, I wanted to get another road only bike for those rides when I know we won't go dirt exploring, or a Saturday morning rip up the mountain by my house. I wanted a sports bike, but something comfortable enough for all day, even multiple day sport touring. I have my Paul Smart, but my knees nixed the days of me sport touring on that long ago. Plus I'm a big fan of modern Traction control and ABS ect. I sold my HP4 and S1000RR a few years back, so I needed a replacement. I really thought my next bike was gonna be the new Multistrada Pikes Peak, but I rode it and it just didn't do it for me. Then I realized I really liked my HP4, just needed something more comfortable. What I found was this.


The BMW M1000XR Competition.This is the first year that an M version of the XR has been available. 201HP. 485lbs. Carbon Fiber wheels and a seating position you can ride all day. Bottom photo is my bike in the showroom, top photo is a stock photo. Once I set it up with the factory luggage, I think it will tick all the boxes perfectly.

Was reading thru the owners manual. The dang thing is 262 pages long. Lotta tech. The original manual for my 86 GSXR is 88 pages.
