I have a big stone one (maybe a sort of granite?) That we picked up when we were living in Malaysia, it is massive... I would guess 40lbs minimum. We use it maybe once a week, which is more often than many of our other kitchen counter gadgets like mixer and blender.

I will try to save this picture, my hand is still not working from some cutting five weeks ago and I don't have grip, they say another month or so before I can start on anything.

I can't believe you never thought of this before. Seems like marble would be soft for a mortar and pestle.

I like to sell things I make and doubt I could make money on one so never thought of it. I will have to do it and tell my wife I made it for her.

Just made pesto. I’m blown away. I didn’t even really love it, the store bought stuff. The big jar from Costco just wasn’t a good interpretation.

BTW, I bought my m+p at Bed, Bath and Beyond - its faux marble - they had several sizes and configurations.
