Happy New Year! Probably heating up some smoked salmon for dinner, or going out with the family to join all of the other Asian families in the chaos of go out to eat tonight. Should be fun!

Mrs. Noah volunteered me to give a talk at one our kids' school tomorrow. 44 kindergartners. I think I'll wear my Pink Pig t-shirt. Maybe I should go check out whatever's on wikipedia...

Better eat some bacon, just to be on the safe side.

I thought it was the year of the Boar? Or does "pig" just sound more "PC"?

Pig, boar -- same animal.

Just like it can be year of the Rooster...or chicken.
Or year of the rat/mouse.

heh heh. That's what I wore today to the kinder talk, my Pink Pig shirt with the caption, "Mmmm....bacon!" Kids (and teachers!) loved it, along with the story behind the moniker/livery.

We currently have two Chinese students (girls 12 & 14) staying with us for two weeks on an exchange program associated with my wife's school. I'm sure we won't volunteer for it again. I feel bad for them. They seem to be wired to only be told what to do and then do it. No curiosity, personality, interaction, or much of anything else. The other families who took students in are having the same experience.

Hmm. This is a different topic altogether msie them feel at home. Put a few bucks into red envelope and give it to them.

Id teach them stuff they will never see. Like how to shoot.

Was last year the year of the dog? Pretty good year for me as was the year before. Could use one more, though. Hope this pig is fat.

The main thing I remember about Chinese New Year is about this time 10 years ago for 2 years running I got a call at night from Master Charge asking if I had put 2 tickets from Sydney to Hong Kong on ????? airline on my MC ? Nope, sure did not.. please cancel that card and send new one. Apparently someone going to celebrate the New Year in Hong Kong on my dime...

Not sure how they got my CC number 2 years running but they did.
