Very cool Eric!
I was in Vegas two years ago Feb 2017, the confluence of Lunar New Years, and the Superbowl..

The major hotels had the lobbies decorated with over the top amazing displays for a huge part of their market.. the Asian gamblers.. My then wife commented on how cunning Vegas was regarding this..

I go every year around Chinese New Year. Pretty cool watching them pull out all the stops! At 3AM when I was headed back to my room and were wrapping up the lobby at Aria.

In front of the sky suites they had this huge pig made from flowers too.

On a random note, do you remember that "Asian" hotel that opened up, Lucky Dragon? It closed down within two years and it catered specifically to Asian people. I wonder why... never stepped foot in it.

Last time I was in Vegas, we stayed at the SLS in the boutique hotel part..My wife noticed Lucky Dragon while looking out of our room.. we walked over and had some xiao long bao in one of the food courts

No idea that it closed

I think it's banh gio. Same ingredients as banh chung, but different shape.

It’s banh gio but not same ingredients as banh chung. You are the thinking of banh tet, and banh tet is round as shown below. Banh chung is from the north and banh tet is from the south of Vietnam .

This is banh tet

It always amazes me that so many old cultures around the world use leaves of some sort to wrap raw food for cooking. All the ones I have tried have always been really good. Of course, most of the time, I have no idea what's in it but sure are good.

I have never seen those Vietnamese Banh tet before and we have a tone of Vietnamese restaurants here in LA. I have had many of the Chinese ones. The ones that has twisted funny sharp angles

My son saw me looking these up and very excitedly asked if I was planning to try to make the banh gio. Guess I have a project ahead of me. There are some pretty good videos on Youtube.
