I agree with you oldE. Mr. Clarkson is long past his sell by. Rude old SOB. Probably never could drive very well either.

javadog 07-27-2019 05:58 PM

Long before Jeremy Clarkson ever thought about a TV career, he was writing monthly editorial columns for British car mags. I got sick of him decades ago.

legion 07-27-2019 06:14 PM

Well, qualifying was exciting. Red Bull had engine problems, Ferrari had engine problems, and Hamilton is sick.

rfuerst911sc 07-28-2019 03:30 AM

The harder Ferrari tries to dig out of the hole they are in the deeper they go ....... they are in F1 quick sand ! I am hopeful Grosean can do something positive with the good starting position . Magnuson is far enough behind they shouldn't crash each other out on the first lap !

Maybe just maybe Ferrari coming from the rear will add some racing excitement . Any bets on what lap the Williams cars start having parts fall off ? What a embarrassing team they are what will it take for them to turn around ? Let's hope for a good race .

cairns 07-28-2019 05:10 AM

It's raining. Should be a good race. Hammer time.

javadog 07-28-2019 05:24 AM

I haven’t been paying attention the last couple races, is it Hambone’s turn to win today?

flatbutt 07-28-2019 05:33 AM

They've already switched to intermediates and Hammy is leading. 8 laps in and Vettel has gone from last to 7th.

edit: well that was different

chapo 07-28-2019 07:16 AM

So I can’t watch the race until 7 pm tonight ? DVR records all practice and qualifying but not the race live?

R K T 07-28-2019 07:26 AM

Started watching the start.... fell asleep..... woke up with one lap to go.

Holy Cow!!!!

oldE 07-28-2019 08:21 AM

So that is how you"fix" Formula 1. You have sprinklers around the track and have a computer turn on the water at random times through the race.

Best

Who ever thought Lance Stroll would be leading an F1 race? Good on Max and best drive I've seen from Vettel in years.

legion 07-28-2019 09:05 AM

What a crazy race. The conditions were clearly treacherous at times as many of the top drivers were caught out. And conditions were changing so quickly that it took a good measure of luck. The winner had 5 pit stops!

I assume everyone else ran out of fuel?

astrochex 07-28-2019 09:52 AM

F1 obviously needs more wet races.

Worth the price of admission to not see any corn rows in the green room.

Also, in the green room, none of the combatants were mad at each other !!! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...ys/smlove2.gif

Was an interesting race to watch . LeClerq throwing it away was painful to watch as was Hulkenberg . Riccardo's crop duster was attributed to an exhaust failure ........... yeah it failed to hold in any oil ! :D I can't imagine what Gunther Steiner said to his two dim bulb drivers after colliding AGAIN !!! But they each scored points so that's good . Very good drive by Vettel . Embarrassing to watch Williams be passed by the entire field , the pace car , motor scooters and kids on skate boards  Alfa had decent pace . If today's race is a deciding factor on if Botas is resigned by Mercedes I'm afraid he is gone .

rfuerst911sc 07-28-2019 02:37 PM

Just read both Alfa's have been penalized 10 seconds for illegal clutch engagement moving both Haas drivers up and Kubica into 10th . First point for Williams in a while.

He is groomed.

He may not be the raw talent, but when things fall his way it happens.

He already has a podium before doesn't he?

As said he has been groomed from an early age, $10's of millions (not inc. buying a F1 team) has been spent getting him to where he is now.

The odds were heavily stacked in his favour to win his F3 championship, one of my favourite race car projects yet

Lance is a good driver but could never be classed as a great driver

astrochex 07-28-2019 03:39 PM

Congrats to Kubica and Williams for getting a point. I would think it is a great morale boost for the team.

Conversely, that is the last result I would have expected for Mercedes. I don’t know which result was more improbable.
