C’mon guys, race aside, how could you not love the dramatic podium ceremony?

I don’t expect the character of F1 racing to improve anytime soon, even with the upcoming changes.

I would love to see cleaner racing too, it seems like anytime a driver gets a car alongside in a turn, his instinct is to bash into the other car. Amateur in my opinion, not the pinnacle.

As much as I hate the last few seasons and the utter dominance of Mercedes, I give Mothers all my business since they started sponsoring commercial free coverage.

I suggest any US F1 fan do the same and tell them when ordering, they typically throw a gift in as gratitude for the loyalty.

Overheating, brake wear, tyre wear etc , is all part of racing at every level.Driving around the problems is part of the drivers' skillset and always has been.Flatout all the time is not the way of longer distance races, and even 20 minute touring car races, certainly in the UK ant any rate, have tyre management issues .

Absolutely true. We see this to some degree in anything longer than a sprint car race on a dirt track. This has, however, come to dominate F1. Singapore was the most flagrant example yet. Leclerc held the field at a local Spec Miata pace, with Hamilton complaining over his radio that he couldn't go much slower. The penalty for trying to get "racy", however, was simply too great. The tires would have been gone in a lap or two had he really committed to going after the lead. A pit stop would have had him at the back of the field.

Fans simply do not want to see endurance racing strategies playing out in what is meant to be a sprint race. Beyond the contrived tire management issues, the aero issues have rendered them unable to race. When one of the chief design goals is to develop an aero package that preempts anyone following close enough to pass, they have been allowed to go too far. Either one of these issues on their own would be enough to ruin the racing - combined, they have destroyed it.

I think the 2020 season will be another snooze while teams focus on the future. What good does it to put millions into a set of dead design parameters? Many times teams will start the new season on last year's car. Expect to see a lot of that next year.

I agree entirely. With all of the top team drivers returning to their seats, with no real incentive to continue to develop the current platform, 2020 will simply be a re-run of this year.

2021 shows promise. Everyone starts from a clean sheet. The new aero package limits are specifically targeted at the potential following distances. The new tires will be constructed to last longer under "full race" loads, without the artificial, contrived wear built into the current tires.

I think we would all like to think this will result in a hell bent for election, wheel to wheel racing from lights out to checkered flag. We'll see.

After seeing the Austin track today, all I can say is WTH. Boy, that place has gone downhill fast. I'm not surprised it was built shodilly, but the bumps are beyond big. Is there anyone in charge of keeping the place looking nice because it appears to have been around for 50 years. Nothing could get me to go there and watch any race and I believe F1 will soon say goodby also.

Didn't watch any of the practice sessions, but Grosjean crashed again?! And doesn't even know why? The times I've lost control or crashed a car/motorcycle/bike/skis I knew why I had a less-than-ideal outcome. Obviously not in time to have prevented the incident, but in my own personal mental debriefing, I at least formulated a hypothesis as to what happened and why. Are F1 cars really that difficult to drive that you can crash one and have no idea why it happened?

How does Haas keep this pairing of underachievers year after year?

During a motion entitled "Establishing county policy regarding motor vehicle racing" the opposition to the event argued that a large-scale public hearing was required to discuss the full impacts of air and noise pollution, as well as disruption of road closures during the event.

Two votes aimed at derailing the process of bringing F1 to the stadium were passed by commissioners.

The first was related to requirement of approval after a public hearing, while the second was related to public road closures requiring county commissioner-level approval.

The opposition group against the event was led by former county commissioner Betty T. Ferguson, who argued that county studies on the event showed "deadly effects" of air and noise pollution.

"It's Formula 1 racing in a bedroom community," said Ferguson.

"The majority of residents in Miami Gardens do not want to see F1 racing at Hard Rock Stadium; the Miami Gardens city council voted to oppose Formula 1.

"We have seen too often deep pockets paint rosy pictures and have their way, only to the embarrassment of the county at a later date.

"Don't allow F1 promoters to come in and roll over us over, like we're not even humans.

"They can produce all kinds of phony statements about how they can mitigate the deadly effects, but we can never erase deadly health damage, and possibly permanent hearing loss, especially to children.

"Even the county's own study verifies the deadly effects.

^I saw an article that said essentially that a bunch of old ladies beat down F1. It also said that the F1 team did not do much, if anything, to refute some of the issues the opposition brought up, like noise and polution. It appeared that F1 was not well prepared to debate.
