Nearly forgot. Clicked on the forum just in time to see this thread and to go out and have a look. Very dark out. And cold, 16* F. Moon is just now coming back and very red. Its also straight up in the sky, like the sun at noon. Cool thing to see.

Wow, it is dark outside.

yeah, the moon was overhead, and it made it hard to point the camera straight up at it. The camera would hit the tripod when you bent it back that far. It was too windy to try to do some offset tripod setup. Wind is howling outside. Had to basically lay on the ground and point head up to get shot. Stillest shot of the night was this one, but it got cropped off the frame. Also hands got too numb to adjust camera settings. Said "screw it" and went inside. :D

I wonder what the "ancients" thought when first observing solar and lunar eclipses...

Was crystal clear here too. Didn’t think to take a picture. Glad I saw it. Seems clouds, travel or something normally obscures. Not this time. Very cool

I got a couple of shots. I didn't even attempt anything with the tripod.

All in all, I was 'okay' with the pics considering how much the wind was shaking the camera. It was bad! |
I was browsing slashdot and saw this story. A meteorite actually hit the moon during this eclipse and is visible on at least three different photos posted on-line!
https://www.newscientist.com/article/2191526-a-meteorite-hit-the-moon-during-yesterdays-total-lunar-eclipse/ It is captured in this video below: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/2oXwtcAN-XE" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

Wish PARF had slashdot like mod points ... that would be fun, esp. if they could only be earned in "on topic" areas. |

Me too, what are the odds on that happening?
