I dunno, Denis. I know you've spent some time in a boxing gym, as have I. I actually won a bunch of Golden Gloves matches as a kid, before I wised up and quit actually fighting. I still enjoy a good workout on the bags, though.

With that said, I think that while he looks a bit more polished than your average street thug, he looks kinda slow and sloppy. Those right jabs (he looks like a lefty) look particularly slow motion to me. That overhand left is approaching the typical barroom drunken roundhouse as well.

Either one of us old farts woulda taken him. But, then again, we're not girls, either. I think, especially if this video gets around, that some prison brawler is soon going to hand him his ass. Or his beard...

I stopped by my Armenian friend's shop this morning to pick something up and I showed him the guy's name, (wondering if it was Armenian). He said no way but wasn't sure what he is, maybe Persian, maybe Muslim.

Certain Persian names end in ian or yan, I had a Persian doctor recently w one.

One thing is for sure, he's a full-blooded punk.

Yeah, I didn't think that he looked amazing or anything, just some basic skills. Most people don't have those. Of course most people don't go around hitting other people but self-defense skills might be needed at some point in life.

As for people just standing around watching, it takes someone tough and really on their toes to knock a guy out like that in a chaotic situation. Sudden violence in public is so unexpected, (yes, even in DTLA), that it sort of catches you by surprise and sometimes it's over before you really focus in on what is happening. The guy was big and throwing hands in a crowd, it's a little startling.

I would have done something but most people are too freaked-out to act quickly.

As for LA County lock-up, he's toast unless he bails out really fast. I'm pretty sure that it's the gnarliest jail in the U.S., much worse than any prison. Over-crowded to the rafters w real criminals. Our MMarsh used to work there a long time ago, he can tell stories. It's not where you want to be.
