The major hotels had the lobbies decorated with over the top amazing displays for a huge part of their market.. the Asian gamblers.. My then wife commented on how cunning Vegas was regarding this.. |

It closed down within two years and it catered specifically to Asian people. I wonder why... never stepped foot in it. |

It’s banh gio but not same ingredients as banh chung. You are the thinking of banh tet, and banh tet is round as shown below. Banh chung is from the north and banh tet is from the south of Vietnam . This is banh tet https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f141600430.jpg |
It always amazes me that so many old cultures around the world use leaves of some sort to wrap raw food for cooking. All the ones I have tried have always been really good. Of course, most of the time, I have no idea what's in it but sure are good.
I have never seen those Vietnamese Banh tet before and we have a tone of Vietnamese restaurants here in LA. I have had many of the Chinese ones. The ones that has twisted funny sharp angles |
My son saw me looking these up and very excitedly asked if I was planning to try to make the banh gio. Guess I have a project ahead of me. There are some pretty good videos on Youtube.
