As a wife...this is how I would prefer that Mr. Lane handle this...

Mr. Lane should meet with the department head, try the Jedi mind trick. It will work or it will not.

If it DOESN'T work - then Mr. Lane should tell me about how this came up and the efforts he went through to try to save our weekend, but alas it will not be. I love that he tried.

If it DOES work - then Mr. Lane can tell me about how the company attempted to foil his weekend with me but he pulled the Jedi mind truck successfully and the treasured weekend is ours! I love that he valued our time together and made extra effort to ensure it happened.

But what the hell do I know? 30 years together and 28 married. Still in love. Happy Valentines Day Mr. Lane!
