Reading a book.
Just an observation.
I’m reading a book. What book isn’t important. I’m traveling a lot, and a book is a great companion for those “table for one” situations. I’m not sure what’s happening. People keep asking me what I’m reading. Mostly females. It just happened again. The cutest supervisor in our group pulled me aside and asked me to tell her about my book. People not reading paper books anymore? I’ll always read printed books. I love them. I love coming across a word I’m not familiar with. I’ll iphone it immediately. Makes me feel smarter :) What are you reading now? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1551195990.jpg |

Silly comment on the cover, not sure what kind of Heinkel could chase a spitfire during the Bob. But good book so far... |

I just finished "Adrift". Great true story about survival at sea after a shipwreck. Right now I'm reading "La Bête Humaine" by Emile Zola. I try to rotate between modern and classics. Reading is one of the best things about being retired. |
But, but but, that is so ANALOG!
You are supposed to get an iPad some e-book reader and be digital. Hang out at Charbucks or the trendy coffee shop or deli. Actually my wife loves her iPad for reading. She can read a book for free from our metro library system, and her iPad weighs the same if she has a 1000 page novel or no book at all. |
My older sister uses a Kindle. I still like the paper version.

Dude. You're an engineer so I will excuse you.
Those are mostly come-ons. You're welcome. |
Yep. If you were a good looking lady, mostly men would be asking you what you're reading.

I went kicking and screaming away from paper, but it's growing on me now. It's some basic model, small enough to fit in my back pocket. The best feature...Can read at night with no light.

grew up reading books in the bathtub.
paper dries out. Its Crispness, lick your thumb to flip......batteries never die.......There is a tactile feel to paper. Cold and Sterile digital print lacks that very essence. and......... you can start a fire with it too...............and not from your Li-po batteries burning down a plane in-flight in your luggage. |
Kristin Hannah?
Are you planning on hiring two Nigerians to get out of making your presentation? :D A KH novel is catnip if you are not. |
I went in to buy the Great Alone. They were out. I grabbed this as a last resort.
Good book. It’s about the French women during WW2. Nigerians? :). You lost me. This is my first KH book. |

I'm bipolar... have a stack of paper books and just bought my second kindle (fire).
I read very old boring books... wait, I did just buy a box of Charles Bukowski books off ebay. |
Now that I read all the James W Hall books I consider myself to be somewhat of an expert on the Florida Keys although I've never actually been there LOL
I've started to read my way through Maeve Binchy's collection. The Maeve Binchy books are good because she "re-uses" characters and settings from one story to the next so you already know the character. |
For some reason, lovely women on airplanes are not asking me about this book. But Junger tells an incredible story. WW1 was beyond brutal...and primitive.

Since I began purging all our books a month or so ago, I have reread: - Dead Solid Perfect: Dan Jenkins - See You Later, Alligator: WFB - Genesis Angels: Aram Saroyan |
I gave up books a few years ago & bought a Kindle. I do most of my reading in bed & the kindle is light & easy to hold. I can change the font size & back lighting. I like the dictionary function & the space I gained selling about half of my old books.
I'm currently almost half way through the excellent fantasy trilogy Gentlemen Bastards by Scott Lynch |
I have to admit that I am a long time Kindle convert. I seem to read much faster with it over the paper counterpart.
One of the best features of the Kindle IMHO is the ability to automatically sync your stopping place and be able to pick up reading on any kind of device! I can read on my phone, tablet, or work PC and always be on my current page. Very convenient! |
