Not a great pic, but the previous single 4x6 bed of weak asparagus got distributed to three other 4x8 beds and spread out.
The shoots were having difficultly growing through 4-6" of heavy clay soil and having to compete with other nearby plants.
Production was not great at best. It was a mess along with the rest of the yard.
They are now in mounds near the surface for drainage and heat.
I will pick next year once the roots get established.

The planting season for everything else is probably nil this year because everything is shut down.

Put this in 2 years ago for swmbo. Deer are an issue here...

^^^^ LOL...took me a few seconds...like when ya see some personalized plates :).

Nice! How tall is your fence...appears to be mebbe 5' or so? Deer will also take the path of least resistance, and they eat virtually anything green. If there are lots of other options...they will go that route. They've become virtually oblivious to humans here....

Don't bother me folks...I'm eating tree leaves in yer front yard....4 pm as cars drive by :D.

My Lab thinks they now belong here too....meh ;)

The garlic is looking good. Peas, radishes, spinach, salad onions, and lettuce are all up. Main onion crop (forground) is looking good.

I put the tomato and pepper plants outside to get a little air and sunshine. They really need to go into the ground, but soil temp is only 55 degrees and the last frost date is still two weeks off.

I am so tempted to scale off that pic. The spacing looks damn near perfect.

Edit: #1 needs to move to the right a schooch.

Ummm, the spacing IS damn near perfect. I know cuz I measured and used a level too. Don't need to move to the right either cause the garbage can is moving and another barrel goes there. :)

Vern. I lived in Fresberg for years long ago (graduated from FHS). Do you have to give your plants a lot of water in consideration of the summer heat?
Growing a garden here is a major project. People enclose their gardens on all four sides plus top and bottom with mesh. One neighbor grows a garden in his enclosed patch. He did raise chickens. He had predators coming around - foxes, coyotes, bob cats, etc., etc. When a mountain lion started showing interest, he decided to get rid of the chickens.

I live about a mile from Fresno High in Old Fig Garden. Yes, I will probably need a fair amount of water but the barrels seem to keep the soil moist (a few inches below the surface).

I haven't had issues with predators in the past but lately I've had racoons eating the cat food. I'm not sure how they like veggies. I will probably get some caging material and put around the barrels, just in case.

We are on a slope.
Lowest point for the wire is in the bottom right, at 6’ highest 8’.
This was taken from the deck.

The only thing that moves them is the dog. Cars and humans don’t exist as far as they are concerned.

Edit: I got off light doing this. It’s the only place you can really put in a pool, which was the other ask...
