Boring is a small town / burb in the Portland Metro area. It is a little rural. Not too far away from me.
Cool car. Waxed rust is a new finish for me. Looks good though. Larry |

I saw "The Sinner" at the Emory campout a couple of years back. Yeah, it would be cool as hell to drive that around. (You either get it, or you don't. You'd have to put up with a lot of bad joojoo from people who don't)

I guess I'm one of those that doesn't "get it" because I would want to restore that car!!

It's a '64 or '65, not a '56. I'd put some decent wheels on it and drive it as is.

My loves are decent survivors. Ten foot paint jobs. 30 year old restorations. Then drive them as is. But at least left as they came from the factory - always seemed to me they knew best how to set up the car.
Just my opinion - not meant to disparage anyone.

What a great joke being played.
Take some crappy rusted out car that is 25% parted out, and make people think it is "cool" by coming up with some goofy writeup and nickname for it?? Umm, the words in the ad don't do anything to change the condition of the car or what it really is. People will fall for anything these days. Last edited by McLovin; 10-11-2011 at 10:48 AM.. |

Although with a starting bid of $15K and zero bids, maybe people smarten up when it comes to putting their money where their mouth is.

Paint brushing shellac from Home Depot over a rusty, half complete car is not "patina."

Did the front end fall off the car and he glued it back on? That"s a parts car with wheels on it.

96.9% positive feedback on 86 sales is all you need to know. What kind of idiot falls for that douche bag story in the description?

man, there's so much misinformation being doled out i had to chime in............the car is an original 56 body/chassis matching car............ed did build a vw powered 63ish bodied 356 "rat" car..................it was crap and ed built it that way..........the sinner was a 56 356a that rested in the old emory jyard...........ed saved it after it had become a parts car...........he saved a piece of history from certain death............or zombied it............or are all restored cars then zombies or phantoms?
no shellac finish but a very light vegetable oil........the whole underside was por-15 painted on a rotisserie after the floors/longitudinals etc were replaced, only the interior and outer skin were left bare...........the rear window is bone stock, rubber is original and cracked though in my silly personal opinion this car/idea transcends being just a car but rather a dinosaur like art piece................me personally,i would never attempt to drive it..........but i am a pessimist,i didnt buy it to drive it...........i bought it because it said so much to me as an art piece, what ed did was amazing and it happened in amazing time........i dont think 356a cars this early wont end up restored in todays market/world...........nobody in the future will know what a 356 is supposed to look like after yrs in the elements, not that this old boy is stock.........in my opinion if you cant see the beauty in this car then you are truly blind i buy really early motorcycle parts and bikes now..............the stuff i buy makes cars like the sinner look "restored"...............i love challenges and i love history even more |
