I would definitely rather have had injections over knee surgery!
I'm in the Same boat, I don't want my knees or back cut on.

Well, today is the day, 7 days of purging toxic elements from my body, no booze, cigars, fats, carbs, caffeine, sugar, have to stay out of bars (and a lot of my work requires me to be in bars, ect, ect, ect, and only 90 more days, down 15lbs and get the injections & IV at 3 this afternoon. I have been warned that there may be some discomfort, ect as I am getting a large dose of Stem Cells, but like when I had the PRK on both eyes, go big or stay home..

At least I can still hang out at one place, even though I'm only drinking water..

Byron, thanks for the update, glad to hear things are going well. I hope this turns out to be a best possible case scenario for you.

How's Mom doing?

She is doing well, took like a champ. Wasn't sure what expect, 2 shots in the back.

One in each knee.

Finally, the IV.

Byron, it's been almost a year. How have the results been for you, and did your mom get it as well?

I have been meaning to
Updated this. Well, I no longer have the back pain that had been bothering me for years, my breathing is much better, so much better that I no longer need an oxygen machine, my mother has had the same success , she is able to get around much better, took a road trip with her sister, but has canceled her trip to China , well, we know why.
Here she is dancing back in December, she will be 83 in July.

Was it worth it, yes, in my opinion it was. My mothers new mobility, neither of us needing oxygen anymore , the only thing that wasn't fixed was my knees, the work they needed there was no way to heal themselves.

Hi p911dad,
Thanks, you just answered the question going round in my mind concerning stem cell treatment for my really bad knees.

Okay, so here is my story.

Stepped on a nail (it was a new roofing nail). Nail poked into the knuckle of my 4th toe. Washed it good and put tripple antibiotic on it. On the third day the hole was black grown to aboe 2 inches diameter and smelled horrible. Went to ER. They said it was a MRSA (penicillin resistent) infection, and did a surgery to remove it. At the end of 2 weeks they had operated 3 times and removed 1/3rd of the flesh off my foot and the 4th toe completely. After 14 days they told me they had finally found something to stop the infection. Until then was told to get my affairs in order.

My foot looked horrible with a third of the flesh and a toe missing. They started a treatment called ACELL. It was a white powder they put on the wound. Was told it worked like stem cells and grew more of whatever it was put on. Every third day they cleaned black stuff off and added more powder.

My foot was kept in a bag to keep it sterile. Was told it was kept bagged because it would grow more of whatever cells got on it. Minus the actual toe that was removed my foot grew back to look just like the other with no scar tissue. It did take 6 months. They told me to look up Oprah having a show on it and called it Pixy Dust.

At the time was told I was the 2nd person in the state to use it. The drug was always delivered by a rep from the drug company who said the powder for each treatment was $2000.

The MRSA infection got in my blood and messed up way more than my foot. But the ACELL or Pixy Dust treatment did wonders at growing back all the flesh on my foot without scarring.

We have cord blood from (the birth of) both our granddaughters in storage. I hope it's never needed.

ACell (name of the company) makes MicroMatrix (Pixie Dust) from pig bladders. Both a dust and a sheet are made.
They apparently regrew a finger, too.
It is not stem cell therapy.

They described the pig bladders working like stem cells and growing whatever is touching them.

I did only go so far. There was about a half a square inch that wouldn't grow skin on and wouldn't scab and/or scar. They had to attempt many grafts for 4 months to get it to skin over.

Little toe was interesting. Was left with only a flap of skin connecting, but it fed it blood. With the Acell it grew back onto the rest of my foot.

It really depends on what the knee issue are? If you have turn meniscus and scar tissue it may not help, but the other knee issues I had, it did help.
And I'm no longer on breathing steroids and can ride longer distances.
