what is it with people? everything is a competition. :D

myself and two other coworkers (friends) took a certification course. 3 days of droning on..blah blah blah.

the last 1.5 hours. was a test. sure enough..someone says, "lowest score buys the beer"

i'm probably just sore.. one guy has yet to report, but so far..i'm the low score with a 90 :(

i did that training circuit with these two. they are betting fools! i suppose we keep it harmless and fun tho.

Yes, but never money. Drinks or dinner. Just with family or very good friends.

Took my sister ax throwing for her birthday. My brother challenged me to "best of the next 5" for who pays for dinner. I won.

I have a friend that likes to gamble on anything, drives him crazy when I won't do double or nothing, or in his case nothing or nothing.

I don't do things like this. I like to gamble, but I keep it between me and my bookie.

I grew up in a horse racing family and it's enough to put you off betting for life.

To me the share market/stock market is fun, it's a bet. And you don't usually (usually...) lose it all like you do on the horses.

I had a coworker that would bet on anything, including which of two birds would be the first to fly off a fence.

I consider myself competitive but have reached the point in my life where I don't have anything left to prove to anyone (except to myself sometimes...lol), so a bet like that would be more entertainment and social than anything else.

True story. A friend picked up a large roast of beef from a small butcher shop, total was around $200.

He's walking out and the guy says 'flip me for it, double or nothing...'.

I don't think my friend took the offer, but seriously, how bad is your gambling problem when you are betting with your retail customers?

Lots to post about...the '78 memories are pretty cool. Bunch of PCAers who won in class over factory effort teams. Remember reading of it at the time.

Side bets...well, I heard and participated in a few over the years. You'd think I'd learn.

One I heard was from the days of the old cotton bowl in Dallas, Texas. Lot of action pool players hung there. A sting of sequential lights on a sign out front. One guy would bet he could outrun the lights as they blinked down the line. The sucker would watch the lights, decide not even a 9 flat 100 sprinter could beat them, so he'd take the bets. The gambler would say he needed to go inside & change shoes before he ran....when inside would tip his accomplice to slow 'em using the rheostat they were hooked to.

Moral is to never make a proposition bet with a hustler unless you hate your money.
