Been beautiful up here in the mountains today. 70 degrees, intermittent sprinkles (.14 in.), and rumbling thunder with some lightening all day. A pleasant change to the hot/warm temps.

If you are too warm in Miami today, don't bother going to the Arctic Circle for relief.

(For quick reference- 35ºC = 95ºF)

It has been the hottest summer on record since 1895 in the USA.

A930Rocket 08-12-2024 07:21 PM

The high was 92° today, but with the humidity, it felt like 115°. 🥵

stevej37 08-12-2024 07:26 PM

Sunny, 80 and low humidity again today.
This summer has been near perfect with timely rains.

How do you guys do it? It was 100° at the track today. I thought I was going to melt and I wasn’t even driving…

Just got back from 4 days of camping.
It was f...ing freezing!
Okay, maybe not freezing but it was cold. Too cold to swim for me and there were no showers.

It has been dark here in Fort Worth for about a half hour and is still 91. Brutal conditions for as far ahead as forecasts go with all highs 100 and above and most lows 80 and above (a couple of 79s in there). I've lived here a long time, and am still dumbstruck to be sweating ass at work in the middle of the night, this time of year. Sux bigly is an understatement.

I don’t need to pay for a sauna. Just walk outside and sit. Whoop! Make some chicken salad out of that chicken sh##.

Whenever someone complains about the cost of living in coastal CA., I just refer back to one of these threads. :)

Evans, Marv 08-13-2024 08:54 PM

Yep. We're getting a nice string of days in the 80's here. Allows me to get some things done outside. Tomorrow we're hiking at Cabrillo Natl. Monument.

Barely a 100 in the Imperial Valley yesterday in the middle of summer, not normal.
When night time lows are below 85 its not normal either.
Makes for great fishing though, stripers in the Colorado River think its mating weather.
Fish tacos for lunch today.

Rawknees'Turbo 08-18-2024 12:54 PM

Nutz heat here now - been 103 for high for the past few days, with high today of 105 and 107 tomorrow . . . was 89-90 at midnight last night. August is a shiit month beyond belief in Texas.

Rawknees'Turbo 08-19-2024 04:40 PM

Sitting at 107 right now at 6:30PM - ass whipping heat for sure.

I've set personal records for kilowatt consumption the past two months (mainly due to the extremely high and sustained nighttime temps we've been having this year), and the current billing cycle is sure to kick those to the curb.

I grew up in Santa Barbara 60-70’s. Remember some very hot summers, no AC then so you adjust and remember the experience. Nothing new today, last year we had a mild summer in Northeast San Diego. We also had a very wet new year. Now we will experience a hotter summer. Come November we will go back to a mostly dry and cooler environment. This pattern goes back all the years I have been alive.

JavaBrewer 08-19-2024 06:35 PM

Dennis, SoCal is unnecessarily expensive due to the policies the single party leadership promotes. Some good, no arguments, but many are questionable and the middle class is getting sick of dealing with it. I am solidly middle class as are my peers. Most of us, now approaching retirement age, will happily relocate our primary residence and put up with more weather extremes and limited dining opportunities. We prefer to cook at home our own favorites. We do it better than most outside dining establishments. I will never sell our Santa Barbara house, it’s an easy rental income. But we are more likely to move elsewhere with a similar climate, outside the US works just as well. I got 20 or so years left so whatever. Oops hope my comments did not take this to PARF, if so moderator please delete me post. Best to all!
