I heard an ad the other day for copper infused shingles that are supposed to keep the moss away.

I am extremely saddened by the state this board has reached. We are 2 days into the OP's problem and not a single person has recommended that he call Roof Girl to come check it out and offer advice.

I think Owens-Corning is promoting those.

If trying to treat a smaller area....a mixture of water with copper sulfate will kill moss/lichens.
It will also kill any shrubs/plants from the roof drip. A tarp or plastic would remedy that.

Copper sulfate can be purchased at most farm supply stores. It only takes 3-4 Tbs per gal of water.

The moss will return, if the area remains shaded and moist.

Zinc strip along the peak of the roof on each side. No more moss.
