^^ I was there in 2003 when they were digging up those buried MiGs in Iraq. I’ve got some photos somewhere. Can’t believe it’s been 20 years.

svandamme 10-21-2023 04:00 AM

What happened to them migs? shipped over to US to try and reverse engineer the equipment or use at Tonopah for the 4477Th?

I dressed up as a tw pilot yesterday.....
As of today 10 hours...towards my tw endorsement....the cfi said "ok your not going to wreck the airplane, now focus on being smoother".... had me a good chuckle on that onehttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1698885317.jpg

Tailwheel endorsement is next on my list, as I'm building an RV-7.
(and a BD-5)

rsrguy 11-01-2023 06:49 PM

That rv is a nice bird... I'm stoked your not building an a. The bd5 could be seriously sweet if your a sub sized faa standard pilot and you get a seriously light dependable power plant.

I'm 6'-1, and barely fit. Won't be able to use regular headsets, as my hair is about on the canopy now.
Seating position is similar to Formula 1.
This will be basic day, VFR only.
Not a cross country machine, more like a flying jetski.
Just goof off for a bit.
The RV-7 will have a nice panel for going places.

When both airplanes are completed, my "big" airplane will have two seats.

Awesome job and congratulations !!!!! Stay calm and TW on!!! I did most of my primary at the Hemet-Ryan Aerobatic Flight Center in the “Worlds longest student pilot program”. Totally my fault, just having way too much fun fly Citabrias and Decathlons. I honestly had more upside down time than upright time when work transferred me to NorCal and I had to cross over to the dark side by finishing up in a trike. Bbboooooooooooo, I wanted to start and finish in a TW. My personal opinion is that having that skill set makes you a better stick n rudder pilot in all platforms.

Took the spinner to work and polished the knob. Lots of practice so it wasn’t that hard to do…. I figure that I should see at least a 5-6 knot gain due to the turbo laminar cordials airflow effect from the spinner facing the wrong way.[emoji12]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...58a0432054.jpg

Thanks! This LongEZ belongs to a buddy who has been working on a GRT upgrade. Since he is only stateside for a month at a time, it has taken a few years. This is also the plane I painted the engine cowlings on.

He leaves again this week and wants me to taxi her around for him and beat the pattern up while he is away.

Polished aluminum airplanes, and wood boats.
I love them both, but will never own either, as I don't want to work that hard to maintain the fantabulicious finish.

The polished spinner on the Bonanza is enough.
Likewise, I have a boat with three small teak strips near the transom.
Wiping the teak once a year with teak oil on a paper towel is enough woodwork.
