Stage racing - nascar ?
Just got back into nascar. I’m new to stages. I don’t like it.
It seems to me like 3 mini races instead of a 1 race...sorta sucks the excitement out of it for me What’s the feeling about this? Still enjoy it though. Was at Watkins glen 2 weeks ago and had a blast. And really looking forward to Bristol on Saturday |

NASCAR messing with things is why I don't watch NASCAR any longer. Well that and the young spoiled brats they have now.

It was jaring the last race I was at; suddenly they just throw a yellow for no reason.
Course, if favored drivers were about to go a lap down; they'd throw a yellow for no reason back before these stages. 5 cars on the lead lap, long green flag run. Leader was about to start putting a lot of people two laps down, as well as run down the remaining 4. Someone at Charlotte Motorspeed way decided to end an epic green flag run by leaning on the yellow button. Stunk. I like endurance racing, let 'em be laps down, let 'em go. |

I grew up in Bristol. Last time I was at the track was for the Tenn Vols vs Va Tech football game. Great time.
Can't go wrong with the Oyster Po boy at... https://www.cootiebrowns.com/ Or an IPA at... https://www.bristolbrew.com/ Have you been to Bristol before?

I like the banging at the short tracks. Segments don't bother me too much. |

I was a fan for years....me and all my buddies, wives, GFs....attended races at the local tracks (Martinsville, N.Wilkesboro, Rockingham, Richmond, and many, many at Daytona. The Twin 125s (two short sprints)....everyone of my group's favorite...unamimous. Never missed...never saw #3 not win....
Nascar lost every single one of us... The stages and all the BS is just that...no mas... Now GOML ![]() |

Even as a local, I'd seriously consider camping on site. Game was over at about 10:30, we didn't get out of the parking lot till 3am. My cousin's house is less than 3 miles from there! We could've walked home quicker. The races aren't much better. Just limited amount of roads to get out. As a kid I worked Thunder Valley drag strip in concessions for a season. Sooo many pretty women.

It's the one track you have to see to believe. Even with scanner headphones it was LOUD. I went to both races in 2017. It's easy to get tickets, even the summer race had maybe 25% empty seats when I was there.

![]() I got to run the old 911 at Bristol a few years back with 2 of my kids (one 997 and and one Boxster). I kept up with the pack. One of the group's brother was a NASCAR guy and got us in for the afternoon. I was amazed at how small this track is. The Charlotte paper had an article last week on what is wrong with Bristol - they mentioned the $300 hotel rooms, etc. and that the management has basically taken all the personality out the competition, (yawn..) No more Tony Stewarts or Dale Earnhardts making it interesting. |

I’ve had Sirius radio since 2006 and only last week discovered channel 90- nascar channel. I’ve been listening to it hoping to learn more about what it’s all about these days and generally to get it into it
As a kid in the 70s and 80s I loved it I’m hearing all the criticisms and I get it. But, it’s hard to resist loud fast cars driving inches from each other whether nascar, indycar or F1 so I’m gonna see if I can stick with it a while If I could watch anything every day though, it would be IMSA SportsCar races

Btw, anyone see the Paul Newman race documentary that came out a few years back? A few weeks ago it finally became available to view on Amazon prime. Not bad. Enjoyed it

NASCAR tried hard to bring in new fans and ended up losing the the old ones. I was offered private box seats with food/drinks for the July race at Daytona. I said no thanks. Give me IMSA.

Stage racing keeps them fighting for position every lap with points given for each segment. Also keeps the pack together, not strung out. I'd like to see them keep the stages but not have a caution after each. Also, if you have been watching, the rules package for the cars makes for some of the best racing Ive seen in a while. Too bad they will never get back the fans they lost screwing around with rules the last 10 years.

Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman
Looking it up on my iPad now, amazon says not available....when I watched it 2 weeks ago, I looked it up via my xbox one hooked up to my TV using the Amazon video app. Perhaps it’s still available that why but I can’t check now Not sure why Adam Carolla and his buddies make this films so difficult to view https://www.amazon.com/Winning-Racing-Life-Paul-Newman/dp/B00XBUEU48/ref=nodl_

I used to love watching NASCAR growing as it was real racing. Over the last 10 years, it been more about sponsor, celebrities, drama, and TV.
If they don’t ant it to die, go back to the moonshining roots and stop with the spectical, and focus on racing

Well perhaps everything’s been ruined by that...according to Tabs even the Rolling Stones show has been ruined by spectacle which ain’t true at all in my opinion
As for racing, perhaps but.....2 weeks ago standing at the fence 20 feet away from the cars zipping by me seemed like racing Not saying it wasn’t better in the past for many reasons but for me so far, it seems it’s more about the track. I hate tracks with slow turns whether nascar or f1...
