Hi Jim,

Still on the hunt for the right boat. Richard (tevake) checked out a Catalina 22 on a trailer that was local to him for me. Sent me a bunch of photos and we discussed it a couple of times on the phone. That one didn't pan out, and I still owe Richard something for his time; if nothing else I made a new friend and hopefully one day I can check something out for him in my area.

Searching Craigslist from Atlanta to Dallas seems to turn up the same old listings, seems the real action might be on Facebook Marketplace but even that seems rife with scammers.

I'll keep on searching, I was hoping that with the change of seasons to the cold that more boats would become available. Of course any boat that is going to need a "bottom job" or epoxy repairs to the hull I won't have the outdoor temperature to take care of those kind of things. And pretty much the real local bummer, is that the local lake water level is going to be lowered by 2.5 feet from normal pool elevation to make yet another attempt to kill the invasive species water plant known as Giant Salvinia before it gets completely out of control. Losing 2.5 feet of pool height is going to make the boat ramps a lot shorter, perhaps to the point of not being able to launch a sailboat even with a swing keel. The lake is supposed to be at this lower level at least through March.

So in the meantime, I'll just keep on looking.

Winter sailing in your area should be nice, but losing some depth is a bummer. Oh well. Happy hunting!
