Had my first adult martini and dirty martini last week.
It was ok. James Bond thing but whatever. Having a little sampler bottle of Absinthe with water tonight as another first. Tastes like straight Ouzo actually. Nothing unusual. I can't understand the hype. Actually.....waitaminute guys..

That Irish People video was a hoot to watch.
The Southern European folks seem to appreciate really distinctive flavored liquors, the one that I found I like is limoncello. Small orchards of limon are dotted all over the Amalfi hills. That and hot summer weather really set the stage to enjoy an icy cold limoncello. Cheers Richard |

I've recently bought a bottle of Absinthe following a visit to St George distillery up the road in Alameda. I'm a serious Scotch drinker, and while this is no substitute I have to say this stuff is awesome. Admittedly, I'm also a fan of black liquorice which I think would be compulsory if you want to enjoy Absinthe. Bottled at 120 proof, but I don't mess around with sugar cubes. Just half an ice cube dropped in a one to two-ounce pour. A whopping hit of fiery liquorice, but lovely subtle herbal notes too.
![]() St. George Spirits :: St. George Absinthe Verte It's never going to replace whisky, but it makes an interesting alternative now and again. If you're looking to try some I would HIGHLY recommend St George's stuff at about $60 a 750ml bottle, or a 200ml bottle for just over $20 if you're not too sure.
